L'ESCALA
Old fishing port, L’ Escala depended until 17 century on the town of St Marti Ampurias.
In addition to fishing, people devoted themselves to the cultivation of vineyards, olive groves and orchards that have survived the transformation of the village in the 50s and 60s with the arrival of mass tourism. Today the old city still retains much of its marine character.
These fiestas form part of the tradition and history of L'Escala: with the passing of time some towns have changed the forms and customs, but in L'Escala there are fiestas that keep these alive:
- The Greco-Roman market
- The salt fiesta
- The carnival
- The summer concerts
- The fiesta of Carmen
- The fiesta of the anchovy
- The giants parade etc..
